An Iowa City man didn’t appreciate a bar patron making fun of his size, leading to an altercation and the man’s arrest last week.

Iowa City Police were called to Coach’s Corner on Mormon Trek Boulevard at 12:20am on February 26th for an intoxicated customer refusing to leave. Arriving officers found the customer, identified as 32-year-old Mathusela Sugarlump Gibson of Shady Glen Court, yelling at another man. Police say they tried speaking with Gibson multiple times, but he kept yelling at the other male. At one point an officer physically directed Gibson away from the other man, but he allegedly spun around and went back to yell at him some more.

Gibson was eventually escorted outside. Police say he showed multiple signs of intoxication and had excited emotions. Gibson was reportedly upset that the other man had called him a “midget” and refused to calm down.

Gibson, who arrest records indicate stands at 4’6” tall, was arrested and charged with Public Intoxication. He was found guilty and given credit for time served.
