Coralville Police capture suspected bank robber

Coralville Police arrested a suspected bank robber on Wednesday.

According to a Coralville PD news release, officers responded to a reported robbery at US Bank on 10th Avenue at 11:51am. A lone male had reportedly entered the bank, passed a note claiming to have a gun, and demanded money. He fled the scene on foot with a yet-to-be-determined amount of cash.

Investigators were given a physical and clothing description of the suspect by bank employees, and responding officers located a person matching that description in the area of 20th Avenue Place and took him into custody. Both cash and the note were recovered from the suspect, identified as 59-year-old Aquinas Lenell Jackson of Coralville.

Jackson is charged with 2nd Degree Robbery, a Class C Felony punishable by a maximum of ten years in prison.
