A Coralville woman is facing OWI charges after police observed her passenger urinating outside her vehicle.

Police reports indicate that 21-year-old Breanna Fitzke was reportedly operating her Nissan Sentra in the 300 block of East College Street at 10:23pm Thursday night. A passenger was beginning to urinate next to Fitzke’s car, and Fitzke claimed to have just parked 30 seconds previous to the officer contacting her.

Police say the keys were in the ignition and lights were still on with Fitzke behind the wheel.

Both Fitzke and the vehicle itself allegedly smelled strongly of alcohol, and several open containers of Miller Lite were observed in the car. Fitzke at first said she was drinking beer at the bowling alley, then reportedly admitted to drinking in the vehicle and driving it.

Fitzke allegedly showed measurable impairment in field testing and provided a .115 blood-alcohol reading on PBT and .125 on Datamaster.

Fitzke was charged with OWI first offense, a serious misdemeanor punishable by a jail sentence of up to one year if convicted.
