An Iowa City woman with three outstanding warrants added to her troubles by being arrested for driving while under the influence early Sunday.

According to police, 20-year-old Jasmine Martinez was observed running a stop sign right by Police Station at the intersection of Washington and Gilbert Streets just before 2:30am. She allegedly continued on for several blocks despite a squad car deploying their emergency lights, and didn’t stop until she reached the parking lot of a gas station.

Martinez reportedly was observed with bloodshot watery eyes, impaired speech and balance, and was wearing bar wristbands. She allegedly admitted to drinking, showed impairment on field testing and provided a blood-alcohol reading of .117 on a Datamaster test.

Martinez is accused of giving her name as Tiffany Olguin and claimed not to have an ID on her, but when arrested she provided her true identity. She told officials she lied due to a warrant for her arrest.

A check of court records shows arrest warrants issued for three separate incidents; driving while barred on November 3rd of 2019, Assault and interference with official acts on January 12th of this year, and a 3rd degree harassment charge the next day.  Martinez failed to appear at arraignments for each charge.

Martinez was arrested for her second OWI, driving while barred and providing false ID information. Those charges carry a maximum sentence of 49 months in prison. The previous charges carry another 26 months maximum.
