Fighting with his lawyer has led to the arrest of an Iowa City robbery suspect.

Iowa City Police were called to a law office on the 300 block of South Linn Street just after 1:45pm Tuesday for a physical altercation between two men. An investigation determined that 21-year-old Javoni Butler of The Quarters on Highway 6 East had been meeting with his lawyer when the two began fighting.

Butler, who is revoked from driving, allegedly initially told police he had driven to the law office. He then went back-and-forth as to whether or not he drove. Butler was arrested and charged with Driving While License Denied or Revoked. If convicted, he faces a maximum of one year in jail.

Just last week Butler reached a plea deal on a 2nd Degree Robbery charge from an incident that occurred on the 200 block of South Lucas Street around 3:30am on August 27th of last year. Police say Butler and another man held the victim while a woman they knew said she was going to take everything he had. The victim said he felt what he thought was a gun pressed against his head, and one of the men threatened to blow his head off.

In a deal with prosecutors, Butler pleaded guilty to an Assault charge last week and was fined $65.
