A trial date has been pushed back for a Coralville man facing a sexual assault charge after he allegedly tried to physically force a woman to perform oral sex on him.

44-year-old Zachary Taylor of 12th Avenue appeared before Judge Patrick Grady on Friday. That’s when Grady granted a continuance, postponing a trial that was originally set for April 14th. Grady set a new trial date of May 26th on charges of 3rd Degree Sexual Abuse and Domestic Abuse Assault Causing Injury.

A case management conference is set for April 17th.

According to arrest records, the alleged victim had returned to Taylor’s apartment just after 11:30 the night of October 27th, 2019 to pick up her things when he dragged her across the kitchen floor by her hair. He then allegedly sat on her, unbuckled his pants and tried to physically force her to perform oral sex on him. The woman was able to escape, but as she was doing so Taylor allegedly pulled off her pants.

The woman suffered swelling, pain and red marks.

If convicted on both charges, Taylor faces a maximum of 11 years in prison.
