The Robert D and Billie Ray Center at Drake University has named University of Iowa football coach Kirk Ferentz and his wife Mary as recipients of the 2020 Robert D Ray Pillar of Character Award.
In a release from Drake, university president Marty Martin calls the Ferentzes “exemplars of the values that underlie the Robert D Ray Pillar of Character Award.” He goes on to praise the couple’s philanthropic leadership, commitment to service and dedication to character development of the youth they interact with.
The Ferentzes will accept the award on April 17th at the Ray Center’s All-Star Evening in West Des Moines. Previous recipients include Hayden Fry, Dan Gable, Fred Hoiberg, Shawn Johnson and Ashton Kutcher.
