An Illinois woman has been arrested for an alleged OWI after being stopped for speeding.

A trooper observed 22-year-old Aurora Whitehouse of Rock Island on his radar clocked at going 96 miles an hour on Highway 380 Northbound at the 11-mile marker at approximately 12:45am Monday.

Whitehouse pulled into the rest area and reportedly told the trooper that she was speeding because she was heading to visit friends in Cedar Rapids and really needed to use the bathroom.

As the officer returned to Whitehouse’s vehicle with a speeding citation, he noticed at Swisher Sweet ziplock package on the passenger side front seat floorboard. Upon examination, he found just the inside of a cigar inside. He asked Whitehouse if there were any illegal drugs in the vehicle, and she allegedly replied that there were none but produced a glass pipe from the driver’s door pocket that contained burnt marijuana.

A subsequent search reportedly found a small amount of raw marijuana and an empty grinder.

After speaking with Whitehouse, an odor of alcohol was observed, and she allegedly said that she had two drinks previous to leaving the Quad Cities for Cedar Rapids. A subsequent Datamaster test showed a blood-alcohol content of .134.

Whitehouse was charged with her first OWI, a serious misdemeanor punishable by up to a year’s jail sentence if convicted.
