An Iowa City woman has been charged with her second OWI after allegedly crashing her vehicle into a parked car Sunday night.
Police say that 33-year-old Laura Roberts of Bradley Street was in the 1200 block of Highland Avenue at approximately 9:49pm when she reportedly hit a parked car on the side of the road. An officer dispatched to the scene believed that Roberts was under the influence of alcohol and transported her to the Iowa City Police Department for testing.
Another officer allegedly observed Roberts with bloodshot watery eyes, thick slurred speech and numerous signs of impairment on SFSTs. A PBT showed a blood alcohol content of .210 and a Datamaster reading of .197.
Roberts allegedly told police that she had started drinking at approximately 4pm while she was at a birthday party.
She was charged with OWI second offense, an aggravated misdemeanor punishable by a prison sentence of up to two years if convicted.
