An Iowa City man was taken into custody after an alleged assault of his live-in girlfriend of nearly three years.
Police were called to the home of 27-year-old Lucas Pumfrey of Keokuk Court at approximately 11am Sunday on reports of a domestic incident. Reports indicate that a verbal altercation escalated when Pumfrey allegedly grabbed his girlfriend’s arms and face, pushed her to the ground and held her down.
The woman sustained marks to her arms and face and reported pain as a result of the incident.
When questioned about the incident, Pumfrey allegedly told officers that they had pushed one another during the incident.
Police say the two have a child together.
Pumfrey was taken into custody and charged with domestic abuse assault causing injury, a serious misdemeanor punishable by a jail sentence of up to one year. A no-contact order was requested between the two parties involved.
