Most renters would get evicted if their landlord found them selling drugs. But in a North Liberty case, they instead allegedly found a buyer.

Records show North Liberty police conducted a search warrant on the North Main Street residence of 57-year-old Susan Pepper around 9:30 the morning of December 23rd. Investigators say they found marijuana, a pipe with burnt residue and syringes with what was believed to be methamphetamine in Pepper’s bedroom. They also allegedly found meth in her purse.

All four of the house’s residents allegedly admitted to possessing controlled substances or recently using them.  Police say Pepper told them she rented out a bedroom and had purchased meth from her tenants.

Pepper is charged with Keeping Premises for Use of Controlled Substances, Possession of Drug Paraphernalia and two counts of Possession of a Controlled Substance – 3rd or Subsequent Offense. If convicted on all counts, she faces a maximum of over nine years in prison.
