Today is the last day that TaJuan Wilson will be employed by the University of Iowa.

Wilson was hired as Vice President for Diversity, Equity and Inclusion last year, but resigned in August, just weeks after he started. A settlement with the Board of Regents allowed Wilson to stay on to work on special assignments for the Vice President for External Relations while maintaining his $224,000 annual salary, under the condition that he resign from the university no later than January 31st, 2020.

The Cedar Rapids Gazette reports that Wilson has been paid over $185,000, a figure including salary, benefits and moving expenses.

Wilson presented two Powerpoint reports earlier this month; one 17-slide report on sexual assault prevention efforts and the other on diversity efforts. In the second, Wilson questioned whether diversity is reflected among senior administrators.

The Gazette, who were able to examine the presentations, says that the reports didn’t specifically mention academic health centers, nor did they include any specifics on diversity progress at the University of Iowa and its peer campuses.

However, a Regents report released this week says that minority faculty resignations across its three campuses are at their highest in at least five years.
