An Iowa City man who had been trespassed after being found in another person’s apartment last week was arrested for public intoxication after allegedly trying to force a door to another apartment in the same building.

According to police, 47-year-old Larry Devore of North Governor Street attempted to enter an apartment in the 100 block of River Street just before 2am on January 23rd. The actual tenant told the officer that Devore was allegedly shouldering the door and used quite a bit of force trying to get in.

Reportedly, Devore was previously found in another apartment in the building earlier in the evening and was charged with trespass, and was told he was not allowed back on the property.

When police arrived the second time, Devore was reportedly sitting outside the building, holding an open beer can. The arrest report notes that Devore had bloodshot watery eyes, a strong odor of ingested alcohol, and “terrible balance.” He allegedly refused a post arrest PBT.

Devore was charged with public intoxication and trespass. He pleaded guilty and was fined $200.
