The Iowa City Transit system is seeking additional feedback on possible route changes.

After a first round of public comment, the city has worked up various scenarios for a transit system redesign to be implemented in the spring.

The city’s Climate Action Plan calls for a 55% shift of vehicular trips to more sustainable methods, like biking, walking, or using public transit, as they work toward meeting greenhouse gas reduction goals by the year 2050.

They will be holding a series of three meetings this week to get input from residents who use the transit system. Each will be in an open house format, with a brief presentation at the beginning, followed by public input.

The first is tonight at the Iowa City Public Library from 6-8pm, and free on-demand transportation will be provided to get participants home from the event every half hour during the open house.

Additional meetings are scheduled at the University of Iowa’s Memorial Union on Wednesday and at Coralville City Hall Council Chambers Thursday. Those meetings are also scheduled to run between 6 and 8pm.

The transit study includes the University of Iowa CAMBUS and Coralville Transit.
