An Illinois man faces a host of charges stemming from an underage visit to the Summit Bar Tuesday night.
According to arrest reports, 20-year-old Gary Barbera of Barrington was ejected from the establishment just before midnight for being intoxicated. An officer on scene stopped Barbera and allegedly found him to have bloodshot watery eyes, dilated pupils, poor balance, and the odor of ingested alcohol.
When asked his date of birth, Barbera reportedly gave his correct birth date, but gave his birth year as 1997, not 1999. He also claimed not to be carrying identification, despite the fact that IDs are required for entrance into the Summit after hours.
Unable to investigate an Under 21 violation, the officer arrested Barbera. A search incident to arrest discovered a fictitious Georgia license in his wallet showing his name and photograph but a false date of birth.
Barbera has been charged with being under 21 in a bar after hours, providing false ID information, public intoxication, harassment of a public official, and possession of a fictitious ID. If convicted on all counts, Barbera could be sentenced to a maximum of 16 months in jail.
