Trying to thaw frozen pipes with a blowtorch had a bad outcome for a Springville man Thursday night.
According to KCRG TV-9, the Linn County Sheriff’s Office responded to a house fire in rural Springville at 6:45pm. No one was living in the house at the time, but a man had allegedly been thawing frozen pipes with a blowtorch when he left it running, sparking the blaze.
The house suffered smoke damage, and everyone present was able to get out safely.
A damage estimate has not been released.
