Citing expanded programming and overburdened current equipment, the University of Iowa is looking to upgrade its equipment and facilities for their in-house display system.

The Cedar Rapids Gazette reports that Hawkvision, which originally was started to provide video scoreboard product to Kinnick Stadium 7 games a year, has expanded to Carver Hawkeye Arena and by this fall will also provide programing to the Xtreme Arena for Iowa women’s volleyball and club hockey games.

The university says that the current control room is at its capacity and new space is needed.

A call has gone out for proposals to build a second control room and upgrade the original control room, with everything in place and functional by July 31st.

Hawkvision is run by Focus Productions out of Iowa City; they are responsible for video wall productions, management of advertising, video, game stats and scoreboard messages and have been employed by the UI since 2004.

Bidders on the upgrades will be invited to look at existing conditions next week.
