A Cedar Rapids man known as “The Buttplug Bandit” has a new defense attorney.
Online records show the original attorney for 31-year-old Brandon Lee, Brandon Schrock, filed a motion to withdraw counsel on Friday, which was approved by Judge Deborah Farmer Minot. On Monday a new attorney, Eric Tindal, was appointed for Lee’s defense.
According to Iowa City Police, Lee, who lives on 6th Avenue Southeast, was identified by staff at the Jobsite Bar as the person involved in a November 16th theft. Staff at the bar were able to provide surveillance video to police, which allegedly shows Lee reaching into a slightly-open window in a parked car in their lot at about 3pm that day and removing a purse.
The video shows Lee returning the purse a short time later, but items were reportedly missing from the returned bag.
Police investigation discovered additional surveillance video, showing that Lee purchased adult items at Romantix using a card that he had just stolen from the locked vehicle. Several Jobsite patrons have contacted KCJJ to report that they now refer to Lee as “The Buttplug Bandit”.
The owner of the card, who wishes to remain anonymous, contacted KCJJ to say Lee purchased a Pipedream Pumpworx with “thickening cream” and both hand and motorized pumps. The pump has an attachment that allows it to be powered by a car’s cigarette lighter outlet, and the victim told KCJJ Lee also used her card to fill his car up with gas.
The victim says Jobsite patrons have since also begun referring to Lee as “The Penis Pump Bandit” because of his specific purchase. He’s charged with 5th Degree Theft and Unauthorized Use of a Credit Card Under $1,500. If convicted, Lee could be sentenced to over two years in prison.
