The University of Iowa has announced the dates for four finalists forums next month to choose the school’s new Vice President for Student Life.
The Cedar Rapids Gazette reports that university president Bruce Harreld wanted to conduct an internal search for Melissa Shivers’ replacement. Shivers now has the same position at Ohio State University.
The forums were originally planned for December, but with the end of the semester responsibilities for committee members and students, they were delayed to February.
Senior advisor to the President and associate Vice President for external relations Laura McLeran is serving as interim VP for Student Life until a replacement is appointed.
The forums are scheduled for February 3,4, 10 and 11. Finalists will be announced at least 24 hours before the forums take place.
The UI has seen a large turnover since 2017, with the Gazette reporting that of the 12 deans at the school, eight have experienced turnover.
