County supervisors release list of legislative priorities for 2020

The Johnson County Board of Supervisors have released their list of state legislative priorities in 2020 that they will pursue with state and federal lawmakers in the coming year.

In a release from the Board on Monday, the list the top issues as:
1) Securing funding for local crisis intervention facilities and operations
2) Fully funding the backfill of commercial and residential tax cuts
3) Increasing the minimum wage and creating a plan to adjust to a livable wage; and
4) Funding for county courthouse security, maintenance and improvements

The board listed a number of other priorities and issues they support, including adjusting the County Attorney salary cap, collective bargaining rights, election modernization, emergency medical services as an essential county service, gender balance and gender identity for board and commission appointments, improving legal protections for residents of mobile home communities, increasing the state tobacco tax, marijuana reform, and preserving the IPERS agreements for state employees.
