A North Liberty area transient has been taken into custody after allegedly being caught holding over a dozen ecstasy tablets.
According to police, they stopped a 2016 Ford Focus for a traffic violation Wednesday morning at approximately 1:30. 20-year-old Lajeryl Clay was a passenger in the vehicle, and a K9 allegedly alerted on the car.
Clay was wanted on an arrest warrant out of Washington County for failure to appear on driving under suspension charges, and was taken into custody. Officers searched Clay subsequent to arrest and located a baggie containing 13 individually wrapped tablets consistent in appearance with ecstasy. Clay allegedly admitted it was ecstasy.
He was arrested and charged with failure to affix drug stamp and a class B controlled substance violation. If convicted on both charges, Clay could be sentenced to a maximum of thirty years in prison.
