The Iowa City City Council, with newly-appointed mayor Bruce Teague, unanimously gave the okay to several projects, ordinances and resolutions on their table during Tuesday night’s city council meeting.

The council approved a resolution to go forward with the extension of McCollister Boulevard to the East. The next step is the City Clerk posting notice to bidders and setting deadlines for their acceptance.

The Council also approved the second consideration of water main reconstruction for Spruce Street and the rezoning of over 35 acres of land north of American Legion road from County Residential to Interim Development, Single Family Residential.

After tabling the issue for months, the Council approved the first consideration of the repeal of the temporary moratorium on new rental permits for single-family and duplex units unanimously. It will need two more readings to become effective.

Councilor Susan Mims is scheduled to be the guest on Thursday afternoon’s “Middays at Monica’s” segment on KCJJ at noon.
