A transient from the Cedar Rapids area was arrested in North Liberty Tuesday night after a stop for an equipment violation allegedly turned up marijuana and ecstasy.
According to police, Alondra Fox was behind the wheel of a Ford Escape near Highway 965 and Pascha Parkway, and was stopped for the violation just after 8pm. A K-9 allegedly alerted on the vehicle, and a subsequent search turned up several grams of marijuana throughout the car. Arrest reports indicate that Fox and an unnamed passenger took turns blaming the other over who the marijuana belonged to.
A clutch purse was also searched, and officers found seven tabs of suspected ecstasy. Fox allegedly admitted the tablets were hers.
The 24-year-old woman has two prior drug convictions in Johnson County from 2014 and 2018. A check of her driving record showed her as barred as a habitual offender until December of 2021.
Fox was taken to the Johnson County Jail and charged with possession of a controlled substance 3rd or subsequent, possession of marijuana 3rd or subsequent, and driving while barred as a habitual offender. If convicted on all counts, Fox could be sentenced to up to nine years in prison.
