A Quad Cities woman faces charges that she fought with Iowa City Police and damaged a squad car.

Iowa City Police were called to the parking lot of 2 Dogs Pub on 1st Avenue just after 6:45 Saturday night for an intoxicated woman trying to drive away. The woman was reported by both bar staff and an off-duty police officer, who were able to take her keys before on-duty police could arrive at the scene.

Arriving officers say they noticed the woman, identified as 27-year-old Jessica Vandyke of Bettendorf, showing multiple signs of intoxication. Vandyke was given multiple opportunities to call a taxi or an Uber, but instead police say she tried walking away.

Officers attempted to arrest Vandyke, but she allegedly resisted and had to be taken to the ground. One officer suffered a cut to his leg as a result.

Police say Vandyke refused to enter the squad car, and had to be dragged into the back seat from the other side. She also slipped her handcuffs and began banging them against the glass dividing her and the officer in the front of the car, damaging the handcuffs and cracking the window. She allegedly resisted attempts to handcuff her again, and had to be restrained against the squad car to do so.

Vandyke is charged with Interference with Official Acts Causing Bodily Injury, 4th Degree Criminal Mischief, and Public Intoxication. If convicted on all charges, she faces a maximum of 25 months behind bars.
