Allegedly breaking into house to fight its residents could lead to over a quarter-century in prison for an Iowa City woman.

According to Iowa City Police, 20-year-old Ajahnay Allen of The Quarters on Highway 6 East drove past the victim just before 3:30 Friday afternoon and engaged in a verbal altercation with the woman. Allen followed the woman to her Sycamore Street residence, where the woman retreated inside. Allen allegedly continued yelling and started kicking the door of the house, eventually breaking the screen door and gaining entry to the residence.

Allen reportedly ignored orders to leave, and began physically fighting with the woman and other residents inside. At least one victim suffered injuries to the face, arms and chest, including scratches and redness.

Arriving officers found Allen outside the residence, still yelling. Police say she refused officers’ commands and began kicking the woman’s car. As she was being pulled away by police, she continued kicking the car and had to be restrained and taken to the ground.

Allen is charged with 1st Degree Burglary and Interference with Official Acts. If convicted, she faces a maximum of over 25 years in prison.
