Iowa City firefighters responded to a garage fire Saturday morning on the city’s southeast side.
According to an ICFD news release, crews were called to 54 Regal Lane just after 10:15am. The first unit arrived on the scene three minutes after notification and reported a single-family residence with fire and smoke coming from the attached garage. All occupants had safely evacuated the residence prior to the arrival of the fire department. The fire was brought under control within 18 minutes.
No civilian or firefighter injuries were reported. The damage was contained to the garage area and its contents. Total property damage is estimated at $50,000. The cause remains under investigation by the Iowa City Fire Marshal.
