The University of Iowa Dance Marathon has announced their kickoff fundraising push day, called the Day to DM.

The day actually runs 26.2 hours instead of 24 hours, as an honor the 26th anniversary of Dance Marathon and to salute the dance marathon members who ran in this month’s Chicago Marathon to raise money for the event.

The fundraiser gets under way Tuesday at 7pm during dancer meetings in the Iowa Memorial Union, and ends at precisely 9:12pm Wednesday, with a grand reveal of the Tote Board in the Main Lounge..

The goal for Day to DM fundraiser is $500,000, an increase of over $17,000 from the figure raised last year during the event.

The acronym DM has several meanings, including Dance marathon, Drive Motivation, Donate Money, and Do More. The Big Event is scheduled for February 7-8, and the Dance Marathon has raised over $27.5 million for the Stead Family Children’s Hospital in its first 25 years.
