Iowa City Police say a woman used fraud to steal tens of thousands of dollars from her victim, then used fraudulent paperwork to secure a car loan in her grandmother’s name.
According to arrest records, 35-year-old Amanda Voss of Long Grove, Iowa used fraudulent paperwork showing that she had the power of attorney over her grandmother, who lives on Spruce Street. Voss then allegedly used that power to secure a car loan in September of 2017. The total amount financed was over $37,000.
Voss also allegedly used PayPal and fraudulent checks to obtain over $50,000 from an unidentified victim between December of 2015 and September of 2017. The victim’s address is listed as the same as the grandmother.
Voss is charged with 1st Degree Theft and Identity Theft of Over $1,000. If convicted on both charges, she faces a maximum of 15 years in prison.
