IC men arrested for stealing high end liquor from bar

Two Iowa City roomates have been arrested for stealing bottles of high-end alcohol from the Eden Lounge on East Iowa Avenue early Friday morning.

Officers were dispatched to the bar at 1:50 am on reports of two men who stole bottles of liquor. Staff reported that 21-year-old Hugo Jimenez entered the kitchen area, which is separated from the bar area, entered the restricted area and stole a bottle of Ciroc Red Berry.

Jiminez then left the premises, hiding the bottle in a nearby alleyway. He was caught when he and his roommate, 21-year-old Parker Bramsen, tried to grab bottles of Grey Goose Vodka. Surveillance video confirmed Bramsen was in the restricted area attempting the theft.

In total, three bottles of liquor were stolen, and two were recovered by staff.

Jiminez was charged with 3rd degree Burglary and 5th degree Theft. Bramsen was charged with 2nd degree Burglary, 5th degree Theft and public intoxication. Jiminez could be sentenced to over five years in prison, and Branson could get over ten years if convicted.
