The wait is over. Oliver Martin has been cleared to play for the Iowa football team this season.
The news, announced by the University on Wednesday, means Oliver can play as soon as this Saturday.
Iowa fans spent years hoping to see the former West High star catching passes for the Hawkeyes.
Martin, who spurned Iowa for Michigan in 2017, abruptly announced that he was coming home in June. Martin then applied for a waiver that would allow him to play this fall. Fans waited two months for a ruling, which became public on Wednesday.
After redshirting in 2017, Martin made 11 catches for the Wolverines last fall and figured to be in-line for a starting spot in 2019.
Oliver and the Hawkeyes open play Saturday when they host Miami of Ohio. Kickoff is set for 6:40pm on FS1.
