Allegedly threatening and attacking an Iowa City bar manager has led to a Cedar Rapids-area man’s arrest.

Staff at The Fieldhouse on the Ped Mall pointed out a subject to police who had been causing problems at the bar just after 12:45 Sunday morning. The suspect, identified as 18-year-old Keyshawn Allers of Palo, was asked to leave and allegedly told the Fieldhouse manager that he would have someone find him and kill him.

Allers fled when confronted by an officer. The Fieldhouse manager tried to assist the officer in catching Allers, causing him to injure his hand.

Several officers joined the chase, including some in patrol cars with lights and sirens activated.  Allers was eventually found hiding in a parking ramp. He allegedly resisted handcuffing and had to be pepper sprayed.

A fake Kansas driver’s license was found on Allers’ person which showed him to be of legal drinking age. He also showed multiple signs of intoxication.

Allers is charged with 1st Degree Harassment, Disorderly Conduct, Public Intoxication, Possession of a Fictitious License, Interference with Official Acts and Presence on Premises After Hours. If convicted on all charges, he faces a maximum of over three years in prison.
