Having a dangerously high blood alcohol content meant a probation violation for an Iowa City man.
33-year-old Delvon Funches of South Dodge Street was booked into the Johnson County Jail just after 9:30 Friday night after his release from the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics. Funches was taken to the UIHC for treatment after he registered a BAC of .433 during a probation check earlier this week. Medical experts say a BAC over .400 could lead severe central nervous system depression, a coma and even the possibility of death.
Funches was on probation after pleading guilty to an Assault While Displaying a Dangerous Weapon charge in April.
