A University of Iowa ambulance stopped by the side of the road was struck by a truck Friday afternoon on Interstate 380.
Investigators say the ambulance was pulled over onto the shoulder to fix a flat tire on I-380 south of Waterloo in Black Hawk County when it was hit from behind by a Ford F150.
After hitting the ambulance, the truck, being driven by Robert Livingston of Waterloo, then collided with a camper that was being towed.
The patient in the ambulance was taken to a Waterloo-area hospital. It is unknown if he sustained new injuries or was admitted for previous ailments.
Livingston was treated at the scene for minor injuries. The ambulance driver and the driver towing the camper were uninjured.
