Johnson County Sheriff’s deputies arrested two different convicted sex offenders for providing false information earlier this year.

The first, 49-year-old Wallace Williams, came to the Sheriff’s Office on April 5th for his quarterly check in as part of his sentence. During verification of his current residence, Williams gave the officer an address on Foster Road.

Two months later, Williams’ parole officer contacted deputies and informed them that Williams had been evicted from that address in February, confirmed by Sheriff’s Department records. During a subsequent phone call, Williams maintained that he still lived at that address, but when asked further questions he claimed that there was a bad connection and disconnected. Additional contacts ended the same way when new questions were asked of Williams. A voicemail was left for Williams to contact the Sheriff’s deputy, but he never returned the call.

Williams was located and booked into the Johnson County Jail Tuesday afternoon.

The second alleged violator is identified as 59-year-old Phillip Halliburton. He presented himself on May 31st for his quarterly check in and confirmed his residence as an address on Holiday Road. When deputies were informed that his Reminder to Appear postcard to that address came back as undeliverable, Coralville Police were called to check out the claim. The current resident of that address told police that she had never heard of Halliburton and the property management company told them Halliburton had never lived at the property.

Police contacted Halliburton on June 4th and he said he was still living on Holiday Road initially, but then admitted that he was lying.

He was located and booked into jail late Tuesday night.

Both Williams and Halliburton are charged with Providing False Information as a Sex Offender, an Aggravated Misdemeanor punishable by up to two years in prison if convicted.
