Allegedly drunkenly sitting in a car with a missing tire led to the arrest of a New Liberty man over the weekend.
Police say they came upon the vehicle, a 2010 Ford Fusion, just before 2am Sunday facing southbound near the intersection of Gilbert Street and McCollister Boulevard. The driver, identified as 21-year-old William Orth of Main Street, was alleged to have extremely bloodshot eyes and slow mumbled speech. Police say he admitted to drinking, had a strong odor of alcohol on his breath and five bar wristbands on his arm.
The right front tire of his Fusion was missing, and the bumper was damaged. Orth told police that someone hit him but he doesn’t remember much else. He failed all field testing and blew a .165 on Datamaster post arrest.
He was taken into custody and charged with first offense OWI.
Orth was one of several arrests for Driving While Intoxicated over the weekend. Arrest reports from Saturday and Sunday indicate that as many as 21 drivers were cited.
