Iowa City Police arrested a man they say was wielding “dangerous weapons” while hiding in bushes early Thursday morning.

According to arrest records, 53-year-old Jaime Noble called 9-1-1 just before 4:30am to report a fight. At one point Noble stopped answering the dispatcher’s questions and would only say he was hiding near a house in the area of the South Riverside Drive Kum & Go.

On officer checked the area and heard rustling in the bushes near 200 Orchard Court. The officer announced his presence and called out to Noble by name. After multiple announcements, Noble emerged from the bushes holding what were described as “dangerous weapons” in each hand.

Police say Noble held the weapons over his head and approached the officer in a threatening manner, but dropped them when instructed to do so. Noble then allegedly refused all other police commands as he was being handcuffed for safety, and was eventually thrown to the ground.

Noble, who lists his address as CommUnity Crisis Services on Gilbert Court, is charged with Interference with Official Acts. If convicted, he faces a maximum of 30 days in jail.
