An Iowa City man who allegedly became upset at being rejected by a woman he met is now being charged with harassment.
According to police, 40-year-old Emmanuel Bradley had met a woman downtown in recent weeks, and she began receiving text messages from him, but didn’t remember him. Bradley then sent her a picture to remind her, but she still didn’t recognize him.
At that point, Bradley allegedly began sending demeaning and threatening texts to her, including one that said “I’ll robbed you and ur friends,” and “I’ll see you downtown white bitch remember that.”
Things came to a head on June 2nd at about 9pm when she was sent another picture from Bradley showing a gun on a mattress with the message “If I stick this 40 in your face, I’ll bet you’ll remember me then.”
When interviewed by police, Bradley admitted that he took the photo of the gun and sent it, but explained that it was only a BB gun and he was drunk and frustrated at being rejected.
A warrant was issued for Bradley’s arrest, and he was picked up Monday night, charged with Harassment in the First Degree, an aggravated misdemeanor punishable by a maximum of two years in prison if convicted.
