A Cedar Rapids woman who allegedly stole a vehicle in Iowa City was taken to the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics after rolling the vehicle Sunday morning.
Arrest reports indicate that 25-year-old Heather Goodwin was the occupant of a 2004 Chevy Tahoe, matching the VIN number of a vehicle stolen out of Iowa City sometime after 6pm Saturday night.
She rolled the vehicle on I80 near Tipton and was transported to the UIHC for her injuries. A check of the license plate showed it issued to a different vehicle not associated to the man who owns the stolen Tahoe.
In an interview with authorities, Goodwin said she took the vehicle, believing it to be owned by a friend of hers, near the area where the victim last parked the vehicle.
Goodwin has been charged with Operating a Vehicle without Owner’s Consent, an aggravated misdemeanor punishable by a prison term not exceeding two years.
