What school administrators call a “very serious altercation” at City High has led to assault charges against a juvenile.

At 8:45am Wednesday officers were called to a fight at the school between what a caller described as a man and two women. According to an email sent to City High parents by principal John Bacon, the incident began off-campus as a traffic dispute between adults who were bringing their students to school. The altercation carried over to the parking lot and became physical. Iowa City Police and ambulance services were dispatched to the scene. Online records show a juvenile was charged with Assault with Intent to Inflict Serious Injury and Assault Causing Injury.

There is no indication on the extent of the injuries. The incident is under investigation, and more charges are possible.
