ICPD now investigating suspicious death of UIHC employee as homicide

Iowa City Police are now investigating the death of a University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics employee as a homicide.
The detemination came based on the findings of initial autopsy results.

According to an email sent to UIHC employees, the woman was 65-year-old JoEllen Browning, the UI Health Care Director for Operating Budgets.

According to a news release, emergency responders were dispatched to Browning’s Green Mountain Drive residence just before 7am Friday for a report of an unresponsive female. Upon arrival, Browning was found inside the residence.
No other information about Browning’s murder is being released. Anyone with information regarding Browning’s death is encouraged to contact the Iowa City Police Department at 319-356-6800.
