An Oxford man was killed in a rollover crash in Texas on Sunday.
KVII-TV in Amarillo says 40-year-old Brian Downes died after being rear-ended on U.S. Highway 87.
According to the Texas Department of Public Safety’s preliminary crash investigation, at about 10:20 p.m., Downes was heading west on U.S. 87 in a 2017 Ford F-250 in front of a 2002 GMC Envoy driven by 22-year-old Zackery Marroquin, of Dumas, Texas. Downes failed to control his speed causing the Envoy to collide into the rear end of the F-250 which resulted in the truck going off the road and rolling several times.
Downes was ejected from the truck and pronounced dead on the scene. He was reportedly not wearing his seatbelt at the time of the collision.
There were no other reported injuries.
The crash remains under the investigation of Texas DPS.
