A survey of Iowa City-area residents shows support for a new high school and opposition to closing elementary schools.
Officials with the Iowa City Community School District released a revised list of scenarios for a new facilities plan on Wednesday. Slight modifications were made from a list released earlier this month. One change has Horace Mann Elementary remaining open, although Hills and Hoover Elementaries would still be closed under two of the five proposed scenarios. One plan would close Lincoln Elementary.
The district’s Facilities Master Planning Steering Committee will continue working with BLDD Architects on potential scenarios. The committee will either meet again on May 29th to consider more public input or present a final list of scenarios on June 6th.
