The Iowa City city council has adopted two zoning changes for University Impact Areas.
Both proposals were approved on a third and final vote Tuesday night. One requires one parking space per bedroom in such areas, while the other limits the number of bedrooms per unit to three.
University Impact Areas include the Northside, Goose Town, College Green, Longfellow, Oak Grove, Melrose, Millard Orchard and Manville Heights neighborhoods.
The zoning changes come after negative public response to multiple recently proposed building projects, most notably the demolition of three properties in the 500 block of East Washington Street.
