A Linn County man is accused of “double-dipping” thousands of dollars in payroll checks at a Tiffin bank branch by using both mobile and in-person deposits to cash them.

22-year-old Bandar Khalil of Marion was booked into the Johnson County Jail just before 5:45 Saturday night. Coralville Police say Khalil was employed by a local business between May 26th and September 3rd of last year when he deposited eight checks totaling $4,796.58 into his personal bank account through mobile deposit. He then allegedly went to the Tiffin branch of his employer’s bank…Solon State Bank…and cashed the same payroll checks.

Khalil is charged with 2nd Degree Theft. If convicted, he faces a maximum of five years in prison.
