An Iowa City man who allegedly refused to leave a convenience store unless he was arrested got his wish early Thursday.

According to police, 36-year-old Todd Brodie of Taylor Drive was at the Kwik Star on Keokuk Street at approximately 1:41 pm when employees reported that he refused to leave after being told to do so multiple times.  Brodie was still on scene when officers arrived and allegedly announced that he wasn’t going to leave unless officers arrested him.

Due to a previous trespass warning, officers took Brodie into custody. A search incident to arrest reportedly turned up a dime baggie with methamphetamine in his wallet.

Brodie has two previous felony drug convictions, and was charged with a 3rd or subsequent offense, a Class D Felony punishable by a prison term of up to five years if convicted.  He was also given a second trespass citation.
