An Iowa City man has been arrested and charged for his alleged role in a shots fired incident this past April.

Officers were called to the 2400 block of Walden Road at 2am on April 9th on multiple reports of shots fired.  Upon arrival, several .40 caliber fired cartridge casings were found, and a residence had been struck by gunfire.

An investigation ensued, and multiple interviews with individuals who had knowledge of the incident were conducted.  Additionally, various video and electronic records reportedly showed 19-year-old Andre Johnson of East Bloomington Street went to the area armed with a dangerous weapon with the intent to provoke fear or injure the victim, and fired multiple rounds from the handgun.

Johnson was interviewed and allegedly placed himself on the scene for the shooting. Officers also reportedly located images of Johnson possessing a .40 caliber handgun, and messages referencing his involvement in the incident.

Judge Deborah Minot signed a warrant for Johnson’s arrest on Monday; he was already at the Johnson County Jail on robbery harassment and domestic abuse charges from an April 28th incident.

Johnson has been additionally charged with intimidation with a dangerous weapon, going armed with intent, reckless use of a firearm causing property damage, and use of a dangerous weapon in the commission of a crime. If convicted on all counts, Johnson could be sentenced to up to 19 years in prison.

Johnson faces up to an additional 14 years in prison on the previous counts.
