Iowa City man arrested for OWI and violating no contact order

An Iowa City man who was reportedly found outside the residence of a protected party in a no-contact order was arrested for contempt and an OWI.

Police were called to the Hilltop Mobile Home Park n Waterfront Drive Wednesday evening at 8:45 on reports of a vehicle parked in the middle of the road outside a residence, and the driver was reported to be unresponsive.

Upon arrival they found 36-year-old Jose Mesinas Acevedo passed out in the driver’s seat with the engine running.  He allegedly had an open container of Modelo beer in his lap, and several  empties on the passenger seat.  Acevedo reportedly had bloodshot watery eyes, slurred speech, and the odor of ingested alcohol. He allegedly was unable to balance himself without nearly falling down.

Acevedo failed field testing and provided a Datamaster test showing his BAC at .275.

It was also made known that the person who lives at the lot Acevedo was parked in front of has a no-contact order in place against him.

Acevedo was charged with second offense OWI and violation of the no-contact order.
