A Davenport woman who allegedly stole hundreds of dollars in merchandise from a Coralville store late last year has been arrested on a warrant.

Police say the incident occurred at the Walmart on Commerce Drive the evening of December 16th.  38-year-old Nancy Hoffman of Harrison Street reportedly worked in tandem with an unidentified accomplice to load up two carts of merchandise. They then allegedly made no attempt to pay for the items, bypassed all points of sale, and pushed the carts out of a fire exit at the rear of the building to an awaiting vehicle.

Hoffman and the accomplice were gone by the time police arrived, but she was identified using security camera footage.

The store suffered a reported loss of over 1280 dollars.

A warrant was issued for Hoffman’s arrest on March 15th; she was taken into custody Friday morning. She was charged with 3rd degree Theft, an aggravated misdemeanor punishable by a jail sentence of up to two years if convicted.
