Cedar Rapids police pursuit winds into Johnson County, two suspects pulled from Cedar River

Cedar Rapids Police have arrested two individuals allegedly involved in an early Friday morning vehicle pursuit that wound into Johnson County before ending in the Cedar River.

According to a CRPD news release, officers attempted a traffic stop in the 500 block of 33rd Ave SW at 12:28a.m.  The vehicle eluded officers and the pursuit crossed into Johnson County on Highway 965 and back to Linn County on various roads.  The pursuit ended when the driver drove the vehicle into the Cedar River via a boat ramp near the 2900 block of Old River Rd SW.

The driver and a passenger attempted to continue eluding officers by swimming from the south side of the Cedar River to the north side. They were met by officers on the north side of the river, treated for exposure to cold conditions, and arrested.

The driver, 26-year-old Kyle Netolicky, of Cedar Rapids, faces charges of OWI, Eluding, Driving While Barred, Reckless Driving, Interference with Official Acts, and multiple traffic violations.

The passenger, 24-year-old Haily Johnson of Palo, faces charges of Interference with Official Acts and was also arrested on outstanding warrants.
