Iowa Governor Kim Reynolds is the most unpopular governor in the country.

That’s according to a recent survey by Morning Consult, an American business intelligence company. They have been conducting the survey since 2017, asking every registered US voter they talk to how they feel about their state’s governor.

The survey compares governors’ relative popularity among their own voter base, including by political affiliation, age, race and educational attainment.

Reynolds had a 47 percent disapproval rating, compared with 49 percent who approve and 4 percent who weren’t sure.

Iowa Democrats Press, who shared the data in an email, said Reynolds’ unpopularity should come as no shock to anyone, given that she spent the last year calling a special session to pass what they called “an extreme and dangerous ban on abortion before most women know they are pregnant – and that lacked exceptions for children under 12.”

They also said the Iowa governor’s unpopular and harmful attacks on public education, including a private school voucher system that siphoned funding away from public schools, and a revamping of the state’s Area Education Agencies as additional reasons for her unpopularity.

Illinois governor JB Pritzker is the eighth least popular governor, with a 42 percent disapproval rating.

The title of the country’s most popular governor goes to Republican Phil Scott of Vermont. 81 percent of his state’s voters approve of the job he’s doing.
